ABOUT SHANE

A smiling family. Candidate Shane Sawyer and wife sitting with their two boys in the grass. Warm toned images, family is wearing white and tan.

My name is Shane Sawyer, and I’m running as an Independent Candidate for Missouri State Representative in District 128.

I spent my early childhood in Hermitage before moving to Bolivar in the 5th Grade.  I graduated from Bolivar High School and then served six years in the Army Reserve. Today, I’m a husband, father of two, small business owner, and Ward 1 Alderman for the City of Bolivar. I previously served on the Bolivar Special Road District Comission, including two years as chairman.

My wife, Jaden, and I are raising our boys in the same community that raised us. That matters to me, because I’m not running to represent a political party, or campaign contributors, I’m running to represent my neighbors.

I believe government works best when it stays close to the people. Your representative should listen first, answer honestly, and remember who they work for.

That is why I’m running as an Independent. I don’t believe either party has a monopoly on good ideas, and I don’t believe party loyalty should ever come before the people back home. I won’t owe my vote to a PAC, a lobbyist, or a political party. I’ll owe it to you.

I’m not a polished career politician, and I don’t want to be one. I’d rather take the time to hear real opinions from real people on real issues that matter to you.

Public office should be about service and representation.

Listen to the people. Protect their freedoms. Spend their money responsibly. Never forget who sent you there.

That’s what Leadership Through Listening means to me.

WHERE I STAND

PROTECT LOCAL CONTROL

PRESERVE OUR RIGHTS

Decisions that affect local land, water, property, and communities should stay as close to home as possible.

Local people should have a real voice in what happens in their own backyard.

Individual liberty, the Second Amendment, due process, property rights, and protection from unnecessary government intrusion should always be defended.

Constitutional rights should never depend on the mood of government.

PREVENT AI DATA CENTERS

PUT PEOOPLE OVER PARTIES

Hyper-scale AI data centers place serious demands on local resources and deserve careful scrutiny before they are allowed to expand. Bolivar has already taken steps to slow that process and give the community time to ask questions before decisions are made that cannot easily be undone.

Progress should never come at the expense of local water, land, or rural communities.

Good ideas should not be judged by which political party supports them.

Representation should be based on what is best for the people of District 128, not party pressure or political loyalty.

Common sense should matter more than a party membership card.

PRIORITIZE ACCOUNTABILITY

PRACTICE INTEGRITY

Government should protect rights, provide necessary services, spend responsibly, and stay out of the way whenever possible. Transparency and accountability should be expected whenever taxpayer money is being spent.

If government is spending your money, you deserve to know where it is going and why.

Campaign funding, public trust, and listening to constituents all matter. Representation should remain free from PAC pressure, lobbyist influence, and outside interests, while keeping the concerns of Polk and Hickory County residents at the center of every decision.

The only people an elected representative should owe are the people who sent them to Jefferson City.
